I got in touch to order a cake, and she told me that this would be the last cake she’d be able to make for me. My favourite cake artist/baker, Yvonne from Make It Sweet Cakes, is moving to the US (actually, by the time this is published, she will already be settled into her new place in New York).
Sigh. It’s been a long run. I’ve been ordering custom cakes from her for the past 3+ years. Her cakes are delicious (light, airy, not too sweet) and her sense of colour and design work incredibly well with my style of photography. Oh, and she was so close by that I could pick up a cake literally 30 minutes before a session and still have time to get it photographed before my client arrived.
Yvonne, you’ll be missed. I have enjoyed working with you over the years and getting to know you and your family. I wish you all the best of luck in your new city, and hope that you’ll be able to build a thriving business there when you’re ready. Please keep in touch! Toronto will miss you!
