I love using my newborn posing beanbag for studio newborn sessions and I’ll share a bit about them in today’s post.
I love this little boy’s double chin and exasperated expression. It was right at the end of the session and he finally managed to wriggle his hands out of the wrap. While wrapped, even though he was wiggling a bit here and there, he was very happy and content. The MOMENT his hands became free, it was like he regretted getting himself unwrapped! The grass is always greener…
I thought this would be a good image to share with my clients and friends here because it shows you what parents see during a session: their baby on this strange round apparatus, which is called a posing beanbag in photography. It’s small and light, so it can be moved around and rotated much easier than an entire bed! Photographers can add little pillows underneath the top sheet to prop up baby’s head (or bum!), and I like to use it for these “birds-eye-view” shots. It is easier than setting baby up on a regular bed, and then me standing on the bed to get the same angle! My hair bun has bumped many bedroom light fixtures doing this shot in client homes, heehee!
Sometimes, when taking images from above, I’ll get some (or a lot) of the floor in the background. To remedy this, I will either zoom in/crop, or extend the beanbag fabric in Adobe Photoshop. In this image, I did a bit of both! Here are a few more from this session:
