This mom had been thinking of doing family portraits for a while. At the start of 2020, with a milestone birthday coming up at the end of the year, she told me that she would love to gift herself a family photo session to celebrate.
So we started to plan the session. At one point we didn’t know if it would go ahead due to the restrictions from COVID. But, with the summer weather came an easing of the city’s lockdown and we decided to move our September date to late August. I had suggested September as the original timing because it’s my favourite month for outdoor portrait photography – the milder weather means you’re not restricted to just sweat-proof/don’t-show-sweat-stains clothing!
BUT, like many parents, they weren’t sure how September would look once school started and kids began to mingle again with friends in the schoolyards. So August it was. And what a beautiful evening we had!
